Join the Fun by Volunteering!
(see our volunteer reward program below)
Among AzVRHA's primary goals are education and fun. We encourage spectators and auditors to attend and enjoy our clinics and competitions and it cost nothing! We know, from experience, that auditors and spectators will be our next participants. So, why not get the most out of your experience by volunteering.
Volunteer opportunities include:
Scribes: You will be the judges right hand during the competition. Some knowledge of the events is helpful and training will be provided. Studying the rules and the score sheets in advance is required. Scribes learn the score sheets inside and out, and really get a feel for what a judge is looking at in each class. This is a great benefit when you decide to compete.
1 per judge per day.
Announcer: Out going personality? Not afraid to be the voice of the show day? ... it's really kinda fun! Start your event announcing career here, who know's what's next NFR? Training provided.
Gate Mangers: You help keep the competition on track by lining up contestants and helping the judges and scribes. Minimum of 2 per day.
Runners: You assist the Participants, Judges, Scribes and Score Keepers by "running" the score sheets to the office, and generally providing support as needed. Minimum of 2 per day.
Timer: You would work in the announcers stand running the time clock and generally assisting the announcer as needed. Minimum of 1 per day.
Trail Course: Volunteers are need to help set up the course on competition day, as well as re-set the course after each competitor. Minimum of 2 per day.
Cattle Help: Handling cattle requires experience... if you have it we can always use your help.
Set Up, Tear Down, Clean Up - You know the drill, lot's of work goes into a successful event.
Photographer: Ann Mulchay Photography is our official event photographer, but we would love to have candid shots of the fun outside of the arena if you would be willing to share!

Associations that are run by all volunteers are plagued with a common dilemma… the need for help. We cannot have successful events without lots of help.
Last year we came up with a two-part plan: First, if you are not able to participate on horseback for some reason we will give you a credit toward your year-end award participation requirements if you volunteer for a competition day. It will count as one of your required competitions (does not add points). Second, we created the “Volunteer Challenge”. AzVRHA will again payout $200.00 to the volunteers with the most points!!
1st $100.00 – 2nd $75.00 – 3rd $25.00 |
Here’s how it works…
